McNamara Federal Building Explosive Device Was There for Weeks

You really have to wonder what people were thinking in this situation. An explosive device was recently found at the McNamara Federal Building in downtown Detroit. The city’s bomb squad was called in, they took the device away and promptly had it detonated. You would be wrong if you assumed that the order of the events concerning the bomb went along the lines of: 1) Bomb found. 2) Bomb squad immediately alerted. 3) Bomb disposed of.

Instead, it took three weeks for any authorities to be contacted. The bomb was found by a security guard way back on February 26. The employee stored the explosive in a locked room for three weeks, even alerting their supervisors to the existence of the explosive device. Why they did not immediately take action, we still do not know. Truly, this is a head scratcher throughout Detroit.

Cabrera Strikes Out (At Life)

Interesting start to the baseball season with the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera. We all knew the previous result of Cabrera's wild night with the report that he was arrested on drunken driving charges and two counts of resisting an officer without violence. This occurred after officers found Cabrera's smoking Land Rover and then Cabrera on the side of the road, enjoying some scotch. From all of the reports, it sounds like he was in rough shape, throwing out, and probably slurring, the key phrase "Don't you know who I am". As it all turns out, Cabrera had some interesting things to say even before he was arrested. When Cabrera was denied service at a nearby BBQ joint, because the kitchen had closed, he threatened to kill the staff and blow the place up. Yeah. Nice guy. This should be an interesting season.
